About

Unlike Glow or Huckleberry, Baby Vault has no backend. Your data literally never leaves your device. Because it’s local-first, it works instantly even in the "dead zones" of your house where Wi-Fi doesn't reach. A dedicated "Doctor's Report" view that summarizes the feeds, output, and growth into a clean, single-page format for pediatricians. You own your data. Export your entire history to a JSON file at any time, or import it into another device.

Baby Vault's zero-backend approach is pretty intriguing, given the typical security tradeoffs that come with local-first design. How do they plan to monetize a $0-cost service, and what's the expected user growth trajectory? The NIP-44 integration is a nice touch, but curious to know more about the underlying stack and architecture that makes this possible.

The claim that data literally never leaves your device is a pretty bold one, and it's going to take some convincing to make parents believe that their baby's information is completely secure in a local-first system, especially when you consider the potential risks of device loss or theft.

So Baby Vault claims to be a local-first, zero-backend solution - that's a pretty bold claim, especially with end-to-end encryption via NIP-44. How does the app handle data synchronization across multiple devices, or is it strictly a single-device solution? The promise of working in dead zones is definitely appealing, but what about data export options if you need to switch to a different platform?
