About

Startup description

ClauseGuard is a contract review web app for agencies, freelancers and small businesses. Upload a PDF, Word file or scanned document and 34 screening rules flag risky wording such as unlimited liability, one-sided indemnities and 90-day payment terms, each explained in plain English. A standard-protection check then lists clauses the agreement appears to be missing, such as a liability cap, force majeure or data protection, with starting language to copy. Reviewers propose replacement wording, compare original and redlined text, record a decision on every finding, and export a negotiation email, a printable review brief, a clean Word file or Word native tracked changes.

I built it in October 2026 to explore how far a polished, well-tested contract tool could go as a product. Live demo (guest mode, use the sample contracts): https://clauseguard-phi.vercel.app/ - a 2.5-minute walkthrough video recorded on the live demo is available.

Key highlights

- Annual revenue: $0 (pre-revenue, no customers or users yet)

- Annual profit: $0 (runs on free hosting tiers)

- Churn, LTV, CAC: not applicable yet

- Product: version 1.7.0, live and working, 190 automated tests passing, 0 known dependency vulnerabilities

- Monetisation built in: Stripe subscriptions with 4 plans, customer portal and server-enforced monthly limits

Team

Solo founder. I designed and directed the product and built it with AI-assisted development, reviewing and testing every release. The buyer receives detailed product, technical and operations documentation so no handover support is needed.

Tech stack

- Front end: React 18, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, Vite

- Back end: Node.js, Express API

- Database: PostgreSQL in production, SQLite for local use, with migrations and encrypted backups

- Payments: Stripe (checkout, portal, webhooks)

- Accounts: email verification, password reset, session management

- AI (optional): second-opinion reviews via Anthropic, OpenAI, Gemini or Ollama

- Documents: browser OCR for scanned PDFs and images, Word track-changes export

- Hosting: Vercel + Neon PostgreSQL (Docker deployment also included)

Marketing and growth

No marketing has been done yet. The product is ready to launch: a buyer could target freelancers and agencies at $19-49/month, sell a white-label version to law firms or accountants, or add team seats and more agreement types.

Revenue and profit

Pre-revenue. Stripe billing is fully built but has not yet been tested with a live Stripe account; the buyer connects their own Stripe, email and AI accounts.

Why I'm selling

I'm not technical enough to run and grow a SaaS business myself, so I'd like it to go to someone who can launch it.
