About

QuoteForge is a full stack quote management web app built for small service businesses like painters, cleaners, plumbers, electricians, handymen, landscapers, photographers, and contractors. A user pastes any customer message (from WhatsApp, email, or a voicemail transcript) and the app uses Google Gemini AI to extract the service, scope, customer details, and sensible line items automatically. From there a two column editor with live preview lets the user fine tune quantities, prices, tax, and validity, with auto save keeping work safe and automatic calculations handling subtotal, tax, discount, and grand total so there are no math mistakes on sent quotes. Every quote gets a unique tokenized shareable link that customers can open on any device without logging in and accept with one click, with the status flowing back to the dashboard in real time. Quotes can also be sent by email (via Resend) or exported as a professional PDF or CSV. The app brands every quote with the business logo, tagline, address, and contact details, and includes a lightweight CRM that aggregates every customer across quotes showing total quoted, total accepted, acceptance rate, and last activity, so a new quote for an existing customer is one click away. A dashboard tracks quote volume, acceptance rate, and monthly trends with search and filter by status, customer, or number. The status workflow runs draft to pending to accepted or rejected or expired, and the moment a quote is shared (by copy link, email, or similar) it auto promotes from draft to pending so the user always knows what is out for review. Plans and billing are set up as Free, Pro, and Business tiers with a monthly quote quota on the free plan (configurable via environment variable) and a demo mode upgrade path. The UI is mobile first responsive down to 390px with light, dark, and system theme support that respects prefers reduced motion. The tech stack is Next.js 16 with App Router and React 19, TypeScript 5, Tailwind CSS 4 with shadcn/ui (New York style) and Lucide icons, Prisma ORM with SQLite locally and Postgres in production, DB backed sessions with httpOnly cookies on a 30 day expiry, Zustand for client state and TanStack Query for server state, Google Gemini via the official SDK with a z ai SDK fallback when no key is configured, Resend for email with dev mode logging, and Framer Motion for animations. The codebase is about 17,000 lines across 102 files with 63 conventional commits, zero TODO or FIXME or HACK markers, a clean ESLint run, no committed secrets, a 25 KB deployment guide (DEPLOY.md), a README, a LICENSE (All Rights Reserved, ready for transfer), and an annotated .env.example. Deployment to Vercel is one push to main with a vercel.json that auto swaps the Prisma provider to Postgres and auto creates the database schema on every build, so there is no manual migration step. The product is currently pre revenue and pre users with Stripe not yet integrated (the Pro and Business plan cards show a disabled Coming soon state and the FAQ openly states payment processing is not yet live), which is the single biggest gap for a buyer who wants to start charging users immediately. Everything else, meaning auth, onboarding, dashboard, AI generation, the quote editor, shareable links, email, PDF and CSV export, the customer CRM, templates, free plan quota enforcement, responsive layout, dark mode, legal pages, and the Vercel deploy pipeline, is working and verified end to end in the browser.
