About

SchoolOS is a complete, production-ready school management system — the single platform a school runs on, from the day a parent submits an admission form to the day a report card is signed. Most schools operate on four disconnected things: a WhatsApp group for parents, a spreadsheet for marks, a paper register for attendance, and a cash book for fees. Nothing reconciles. A principal who wants to know which students are both failing and chronically absent has no way to answer that without a week of manual cross-referencing.SLS replaces all of it with one login, one database, and 22 modules that share the same data model — so a fee defaulter shows up in the principal's dashboard, the teacher's roster, and the parent app at the same moment.WHAT'S INSIDEStudent lifecycle — Public online admission portal per branch, application pipeline from Applied through Enrolled, 360-degree student profiles, family accounts linking one parent login to multiple children, document vault, transfer and withdrawal workflows with clearance checklists.Academics — Academic years, terms, classes, sections, subjects and teacher mapping. Timetable builder with live conflict detection that catches teacher double-bookings and room clashes before you publish. Exam planner, fast keyboard-driven marks entry, standards-based learning outcome tracking, comment bank, and auto-generated PDF report cards.Attendance — Daily or period-wise, parent-raised leave requests with approval, late arrival and early pickup tracking, absence pattern detection with automatic alerts, and attendance heatmaps for coordinators.Fees and finance — Fee structures with installments, partial payments, arrears rules and late-fee charges. Discounts and scholarships with an approval workflow. Receipt and invoice PDFs. A finance dashboard showing collected versus outstanding, overdue lists, top defaulters and collection by class.Parent experience — A mobile-first portal, installable as an app, with offline caching and a background sync queue. Child progress, attendance, timetable, homework, fees and bus tracking per child. Announcements with read receipts. Digital consent forms signed on-screen. Direct threaded messaging with teachers.Teacher tools — Daily dashboard, lesson plans with reusable templates and a rich-text editor, homework assignment with per-student targeting, class diary, behaviour notes with escalation thresholds, and a smart substitute system with pre-configured cascading fallback chains triggered automatically when a teacher is marked absent.Online classes — A per-session Go Remote toggle on any timetable slot. Self-hosted Jitsi with JWT-authenticated rooms embedded directly in the portal, and attendance captured automatically from Jitsi webhooks. Or paste a Zoom, Google Meet or Teams link instead. Built as the fail-safe layer for class continuity: normal class, then substitute, then online, then cancellation.Operations — Transport routes and stops with a dedicated driver view for live pickup and drop status, parent-side bus tracking, and incident logging. Library catalogue with issue, return, reservations and fine policies. Asset register with maintenance logs. Staff HR with teacher profiles, document expiry alerts and performance reviews.Student wellbeing — Counselling notes behind their own restricted audit log, a wellbeing incident register, health records, and Individual Learning Plans for students needing accommodations.Leadership analytics — Dashboards with trend charts, at-risk student detection combining attendance, marks and behaviour signals, teacher workload distribution, parent engagement scoring, and a global command-palette search across students, staff, classes and fees.HOW IT'S DIFFERENTMulti-branch is enforced by the database, not by application code. Every request sets a PostgreSQL session variable and Row-Level Security policies scope every single query to that branch. A forgotten filter in application code cannot leak another campus's data — the database refuses the read. The audit trail works the same way. PostgreSQL triggers capture every insert, update and delete with actor and timestamp, so an administrator cannot quietly edit a grade or a fee record. It cannot be bypassed from the API because it doesn't live in the API.On top of that sits granular authorisation: 9 roles, permissions defined per module and per action, with own, assigned and branch-level scoping. And it is fully self-hosted. No vendor telemetry, no third-party analytics, no phone-home. Standard PostgreSQL, standard S3, standard SMTP. The buyer owns the database and the complete unobfuscated source.
