I like notes that can grow as I think. A small thought becomes a bullet. A related thought goes underneath it. Later, I move a few pieces around until the structure matches what I meant. That is why Daily Notes and outline-based tools work well for me. I do not always know the final structure when I start writing, but I can usually find it once the thoughts are on the page.
