Yakki
Voice dictation and meeting recording for macOS — fast, private, context-aware
About
I built Yakki because I wanted to do more with my voice — locally, with full control of my privacy. I started exploring what's possible with AI and how to give people super powers through their apps.Yakki is a macOS menu bar utility for push-to-talk voice dictation. Hold a hotkey, speak, and your words stream into any app with sub-200ms latency. Everything runs on-device using Parakeet STT and Whisper — no audio leaves your Mac.What makes it special: Yakki reads your screen context via OCR and formats text intelligently based on what app you're in. Email gets professional tone. Chat stays concise. Code editors get clean formatting. Also includes: meeting transcription with speaker ID, app audio capture, hot-swappable engines, and searchable history.

does local processing mean it works offline too?
local whisper under the hood or something custom?
